Our history

Fundación Infancia y Aprendizaje's current work takes on and continues, since 1993, the group Aprendizaje's (Learning) legacy.

Aprendizaje's activities begin in 1976, in the midst of Spanish transition to democracy after a long dictatorship. Within a larger process in the national arena dedicated to the recovery of social and human sciences, Aprendizaje intended to contribute to the development of psychology, education and cultural sciences in Spain through the publication of books and journals, as well as through the organization of conferences for scientific and professional updating.

Conferences organized

1979. I Internacional Symposium of Psychology and Education. Organized by Aprendizaje. Madrid, 29 October - 2 November.

1986. II Internacional Symposium of Psychology and Education. Organized by Aprendizaje. Madrid, 23 - 27 June.

1992. I Conference for Socio Cultural Research of the Society for Sociocultural Studies. Organized by Fundación Infancia y Aprendizaje, Fundación La Caixa and Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Madrid, Universidad Complutense: 15 - 18 September.

1995. III Symposium of Infancia y Aprendizaje - CL&E, organized by Fundación Infancia y Aprendizaje and Fundación La Caixa. Madrid, 27 February - 2 March.

2005. IV Human Development and Education Symposium, organized by Fundación Infancia y Aprendizaje and Universidad de Alcalá. Alcalá de Henares, 6 - 9 September.

Publications

1976 - 1980. Constituent period of the book collection Aprendizaje (more than 100 books and didactic and diagnostic tools). Collection Comunicación (7 titles).

1978. Infancia y Aprendizaje journal is founded.

1980. Estudios de Psicología journal is founded.

1981 - 1982. Publisher Siglo XXI de España takes on Aprendizaje book collection for a year (13 titles).

1983 - 1993. Visor Distribuciones collaborates with Aprendizaje Group and takes on Aprendizaje collection. This collaboration lasted until 1993 (118 titles).

1986. Revista de Psicología Social journal is founded.

1988. Cognitiva journal is founded.

1989. Comunicación, Lenguaje & Educación (CL&E) journal is founded.

1993. Fundación Infancia y Aprendizaje is legally established.

1994. FIA begins publishing its book collections in the cultural historical approach (23 titles).

1996. CL&E undergoes a new phase under the title Cultura y Educación.

1997. Comunicación y Cultura journal is founded.

2010. Psyecology journal is founded.

2014. FIA signs a publishing agreement with Taylor & Francis / Routledge. All journals are published in two languages, English and Spanish, and authors may submit their manuscripts in any of the two.
